The FIA Foundation held its Annual General Meeting during the FIA Annual General Assembly in Kigali, Rwanda, to report on its 2024 work in road and motorsport safety, climate, and environment.

Rwanda has taken a significant step to reduce motorcycle deaths and head injuries with the introduction of the first African helmet testing facility, supported by the FIA Foundation.

The FIA Foundation reports on its charitable activities in 2024, including the life-saving impact of the International Road Assessment Programme; advocacy by motorcycle helmet coalitions; new TRUE research on gross polluters in Delhi; and playing a key role in the safety of top level motor sport.

The FIA Foundation has co-funded a research project aiming to prevent sport competitors from suffering spinal injuries. These are sometimes observed in categories such as cross-country competition, and usually follow a heavy vehicle landing.

The FIA Foundation joined partners at the Cairo World Urban Forum (WUF12) focusing on active mobility and road safety for climate action and sustainable urban development with a number of major events and launches.

Tunisian NGO les Ambassadeurs de la Sécurité Routière (ASR) has launched a new initiative to implement and enforce 30km/h speed limits around schools, supported by the FIA Foundation.

Moldova has been awarded the Vision Zero for Youth International Leadership Award by the National Center for Safe Routes to School in the USA with support from the FIA Foundation.

The G20 summit agenda on urban development has highlighted the need for accelerating work and prioritising investment on sustainable transport and active mobility.  

In a motor sport first, the FIA has launched a new educational programme designed to raise awareness of the dangers of concussion, supported by the FIA Foundation.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), UN-Habitat, and the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the Pan African Action Plan for Active Mobility (PAAPAM) at the World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt, supported by the FIA Foundation.
