Singapore auto club road safety spotlight with the FIA Foundation

The Automobile Association of Singapore (AAS) put a spotlight on road safety, as part of wide-ranging events to recognise the country’s sixtieth independence anniversary.
The AAS Overseas Safe Driving Forum and fundraising dinner convened national and international experts including, regional auto clubs Thailand, Sri Lanka, Macao, India, Japan, and Vietnam, as well as Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE), International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL), the Malaysia Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), the FIA, and the FIA Foundation. FIA Foundation Programmes Director Aggie Krasnolucka spoke during the event and highlighted global road safety initiatives, action, and advocacy focusing on the journey to school.
Former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, AAS President Bernard Tay, and FIA Senate President Carmelo Sanz de Barros joined the fundraising dinner to launch the club’s School Road Safety Playbook, developed in collaboration with the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC), and Singapore Police Force (SPF), with funding from the FIA Road Safety Grants Programme supported by the FIA Foundation.
The FIA Foundation also joined the Singapore Road Safety Council Awards hosted in collaboration with the Traffic Police, Land Transport Authority (LTA), and Ministry of Manpower, which brought together road safety stakeholders from Singapore including national traffic police and armed forces. Aggie Krasnolucka presented global perspectives and regional trends, particularly on motorcycle safety, with experts on policing, infrastructure, innovation, accountability, and technology for road safety.
Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Sim Ann, presented the awards. Reflecting on the event, she said: “Taking road safety seriously saves lives. I was delighted to present awards to organisations and individuals who set high standards in road safety at this year’s Singapore Road Safety Awards and Seminar. Alongside enforcement, strong partnerships with the industry remain crucial.”
Aggie Krasnolucka, FIA Foundation Programmes Director, added: “I was delighted to see AAS in action, witness their commitment to road safety, and see their leadership in many of the key road safety projects. Safer journeys to school are a priority and should remain high on the road safety agenda with active policy change and effective, proven solutions implemented.”
