DENSO joins Road Safety Fund as a Global Supporter
The Japanese technology company, whose work includes automotive safety technologies, announced its support for the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety today at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The Road Safety Fund, an initiative of the FIA Foundation in partnership with the World Health Organization, raises financial support for road safety activities around the world in support of the Decade of Action. Corporate 'Global Supporters' donate at least US $150,000 per year.
Recognizing the importance of the Fund’s mission, DENSO decided to support its activities as a global supporter from September 2013. An agreement was reached with the Fund in September 2013. DENSO will participate in various support programmes such as financing road safety activities undertaken by the Fund in various countries and regions, raising awareness, providing education on road safety, and donating motorcycle helmets to children.
DENSO has developed and commercialized safety technologies for protecting occupants and preventing accidents, to help achieve a society free from traffic injuries. DENSO is committed to developing technologies to achieve a safer automotive society for people worldwide. By utilizing technologies refined in its operations, DENSO will actively participate in road safety activities around the world.
Saul Billingsley, Director of the Road Safety Fund, said: “I am delighted to welcome DENSO Corporation as our new Global Supporter. This is a company with a strong tradition in automotive safety, and we look forward to utilising their experience and commitment in support of the Decade of Action. We are grateful for their generous contribution to our cause, which will enable the Road Safety Fund to support new road injury prevention activities by NGO partners”.
