Oscar Edmundo Díaz has devoted his 22-year career to urban planning, transportation, and road safety. He is recognized for leading the planning and implementation of transport projects, including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, and safe infrastructure for non-motorized transport-NMT (cycling and walking) in cities in the Americas, Africa, and Asia.

This expertise is complemented with a solid financial knowledge to structure projects in major urban areas. Oscar has worked twice as Special Advisor to the Mayor of Bogota, Enrique Peñalosa (1998-2000 and 2016-2019), in the last term he worked on a new business model for the city’s BRT system bus renewal, separating the procurement contracts from the operation, awarding a new fleet of 2,700+ low-emission and electric buses. In the past year Oscar has done consulting for multilateral organizations and other partners the FIA Foundation such as ITDP and C40. He joined the FIA Foundation in April 2021 as an Advisor for Latin America. He holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Universidad Externado de Colombia and an Master of International Affairs with a concentration in Finance and International Business from Columbia University, in New York, USA. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.
