The US Public Policy Advisory Group is an informal voluntary group which provides advice to the FIA Foundation on road safety, sustainable transport issues and general US public policy as it pertains to the international agenda. It also aims to encourage advocacy to promote international road safety as a priority within the US, and it provides guidance on the FIA Foundation's relations with relevant US government agencies, Congress, and transport, environmental and public health stakeholders in the US. Former members of the Advisory Group have all had distinguished careers in fields of US transportation policy.

Thomas Louizou

Former Advisor

Thomas M. Louizou is a 38 year veteran of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, USDOT.  

As the Regional Administrator, Region 2 (NJ, NY, PA, PR, USVI), he provided stewardship and program delivery services for highway safety grant programs totaling over $30 million annually throughout the region.  He worked on many of the NYC venue based Global Road Safety activities including participation in policy briefings on Road Traffic Injury in UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Decade of Action.  Among his many awards, he was named NHTSA Employee of the Year twice.  Tom continues to provide consulting services to State and national road safety associations.
