The FIA Foundation draws on the expertise of a number of external informal advisors to support our work.
The US Public Policy Advisory Group is an informal voluntary group which provides advice to the FIA Foundation on road safety, sustainable transport issues and general US public policy as it pertains to the international agenda. It also aims to encourage advocacy to promote international road safety as a priority within the US, and it provides guidance on the FIA Foundation's relations with relevant US government agencies, Congress, and transport, environmental and public health stakeholders in the US. The members of the Advisory Group have all had distinguished careers in fields of US transportation policy. The Advisory Group is chaired by Foundation trustee Marilena Amoni, a former Associate Administrator of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
External evaluation of the Foundation’s programmes is led by Kate McMahon OBE. Kate is a former Head of Road Safety for the UK Department for Transport, where she worked from 1987 to 2005. She was responsible for the development and implementation of the GB Road Safety Strategy and 2010 targets, safety of vulnerable road users, and the management of the road safety research programme. As an independent consultant she has been involved in international road safety with the EU, OECD, WHO, World Bank and UNECE.
