Launch of the Think campaign at Prague Motor Show
Thirty thousand people came to the Auto Praha Motor Show in Prague, held from 21st to 23rd April, a good occasion for the Czech automobile club UAMK to launch the Think campaign and to remind people not to forget safety.
The Czech Republic has a high rate of injuries due to lacking or incorrect use of seat belts and child restraint systems.
Fatality/injury rate as a result of road traffic accidents among children up to 15 years of age:
fatalities: 25, serious injuries: 107, light injuries: 1250
fatalities: 17, serious injuries:136, light injuries: 1446
fatalities: 18, serious injuries: 105, light injuries 1401
Visitors were invited to take a seat on the UAMK’s low impact speed seat belt convincer and they were shown how to correctly install and use child restraint systems. They were also reminded that car tyres are the only contact between the car and the road, and that you put your life at risk if you never check tyre pressure or tread.
Demonstrations were given on how to control a car and stop safely on slippery road surfaces. Those who wanted to test their knowledge on safe driving and traffic regulations could fill out a special questionnaire and children could practice the fun way on the traffic play ground.
The UAMK will continue demonstration activities in 2006 and close the campaign at the “Lysa nad Labem 2006 Auto Show“ held from 2 to 5 November.
This new film from the FIA Foundation looks at the practical and political steps that need to taken to improve road safety across the world.
