The FIA Foundation has participated in the 10th PRI (Prévention Routière International) World Congress on road safety. The Foundation’s Technical Director, Frank van West, gave a presentation on “Improvement of Vehicle Safety Standards” at the Congress, held in Abu Dhabi from 27-29th March.
The Congress, which was held under the patronage of H.H Sheik Mohammad Bin Zayed Alk Hahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, concentrated on the theme “Road Safety Strategies: Think global, act local.” The conference was organised in cooperation with the Emirates Traffic Safety Society and the Arab Organisation for Road Safety. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and expertise on road safety measures and in particular for the United Arab Emirates to benefit from international experience. The authorities in the UAE are currently spending a large amount of effort developing the infrastructure, safety standards and legislation for implementing road safety measures.
