The FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety has published ‘Formula for Safety’, a report on its activities in the motor sport safety research field.
The FIA Institute, established by the FIA and the FIA Foundation, is responsible for carrying out highly specialised and technical research as well as developing training programmes for sports marshals, medics and other officials vital for keeping motor sport safe. Major research projects funded by the FIA Foundation and implemented by the FIA Institute have included new wheel tether designs for Formula One cars to prevent wheels flying off in the event of a crash and the development of high speed crash barriers designed to protect drivers and spectators alike.
The ‘Formula for Safety’ report was launched at the FIA Institute’s Annual Meeting, held in Barcelona on 19th October.
