Maurice Eaton, the administrative manager of the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), has been honoured on both sides of the Atlantic for his tireless dedication to road safety.
Mr Eaton, who has been the organisational linchpin of the Euro NCAP programme since its inception, was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in her Birthday Honours for ‘services to vehicle safety’. Meanwhile, the US Government has awarded Mr Eaton with a National Award for Safety Engineering Excellence. The award was presented at the International Technical Conference on the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles (ESV), in Washington D.C. The award was given for his ‘unparalleled contribution to automotive safety throughout the world’ according to the Administrator of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Dr Jeff Runge.
The FIA Foundation adds its warm congratulations to Maurice, who will be retiring from Euro NCAP later this year.
