A report on the successful efforts to promote road safety at the United Nations, resulting in the first General Assembly debate and substantive resolution, has been published by the Global Road Safety Steering Committee.
The Committee, an informal group of UN agencies and road safety NGOs, including the FIA Foundation, was instrumental in achieving political support for the Resolution, in partnership with Oman’s ambassador to the UN, Fuad Al Hinai. The report includes proceedings of key public meetings leading up to the General Assembly debate, extracts from the debate itself and discussions at the road safety Stakeholders’ Forum that followed.
