The FIA Foundation has taken part in a high level conference on EU environmental and energy policy, organised by the Dutch government as part of its Presidency of the European Union.

The conference, Energy in Motion, was held in Amsterdam with participation from senior officials from the Dutch, US and Japanese governments and from the European Commission. The aim of the conference was to plot a course for EU environmental policy, focusing particularly on reducing carbon dioxide emissions and tighter air quality standards. European government officals, automotive and oil industry representatives and environmental NGOs attended the conference.

Chaired by Simon Upton, Chair of the OECD round table on sustainable development, the conference also heard from BP Senior Advisor Sir Charles Nicholson and Toyota's Managing Officer, Tadashi Yamashina. The FIA Foundation's Deputy Director General, Saul Billingsley, joined a panel debate on strategies for introducing new green technologies to market, together with speakers from the European Commission, Swedish government and BMW.
