Representatives of ten sub-Saharan African countries have signed a road safety declaration at a conference backed by the FIA Foundation. The conference in Windhoek, Namibia, was organised by the National Road Safety Council of Namibia and the AA of South Africa. The Namibian Minister of Transport, Dr Moses Amweelo, opened the conference, which brought together police, government officials and road safety campaigners from across the region. The FIA Foundation’s road safety film was shown at the conference, and copies of the WHO / World Bank World Report on road traffic injury prevention were distributed to delegates.
