Crash tests down under

The FIA Foundation has become a funding member of the Australian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP). The Australian programme, which has close links to the European NCAP, is supported by the Australian Automobile Club and its member clubs in the federal states, NMRA, RACV, RACQ, RAASA, RACWA, RACT and AANT, together with State government road and transport authorities in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, the Commonwealth Department of Transport and Regional Services, the New Zealand Automobile Association and New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority. The FIA Foundation’s membership of ANCAP was announced by Laughlan McIntosh, Executive Director of the AAA, at a conference on ‘The New Car Assessment Program and Biomechanics Vehicle Compatibilty’ which was organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers and Engineers Australia in Sydney.
