Getting serious on road safety

22/05/2008

The World Bank has just launched a new transport business strategy for the next four years called, 'Safe, Clean and Affordable - Transport for Development. Encouragingly, road safety is high up the agenda. Tony Bliss, Lead Road Safety Specialist, for the World Bank said: “We are placing special emphasis on road safety, extending our support to include not only road safety components embedded in road infrastructure projects, but also larger stand-alone projects…that would improve road safety across the board.” It’s good to see the issue gaining such prominence in a high level strategy.
