Eco-driving is put to the test

Whilst it won’t determine whether they pass or fail from September, UK driving test examiners have been giving feedback to candidates on how safe and how environmentally friendly their driving was. According to the Department for Transport drivers can save around a month’s worth of fuel each year by taking simple steps such as ensuring tyres are correctly pumped up, changing gear earlier to keep revs low and avoiding carrying unnecessary clutter in the boot. This initiative is a good example of an innovative approach to eco-driving, ensuring that new motorists are made aware of the ways they can achieve better fuel efficiency from the outset before they have had a chance to form bad habits.
