Reports today suggest that the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, is keen to see greater use of less polluting cars as part of the world’s response to the challenge of climate change (see above) Speaking at a G8 summit, whose conclusions committed leaders to promoting the idea of a 50% cut in CO2 by 2050 as part of the next UNFCCC negotiations, he suggested that more in particular was needed to grow the market for hybrid and battery powered cars.
